Struggle On

by John J. Butler

Trials after Trials can drag us all Down,
But Turning to Bahá'u'lláh, can win us the Crown;
For all joys and pains are but a passing Tableaux,
Compared with what awaits us, in our Heavenly Plateaux.

Think of the Sacrifices of the Friends in Irán,
See how they suffer as their Race is run,
Many gave Blood, to quench our Thirst,
Many more left home, to spread wide His Verse.

So take each Day just as it comes,
Be as a River, that to the sea Runs;
Tomorrow's not ours, yesterday has all gone,
Except for the Present, we have time, None.

The Kingdom is Calling, put on the White Gown,
Cast of your Clothes, that are weighing you Down,
Stripped like a Swimmer, through the Waters all Race,
To Battle with Self, so as to raise high your Face.

So who can be winners? We're not to Know,
For many may simple, with the river to Flow,
But others many Struggle, some, seemingly Drown,
Yet God sees their Efforts, and may give them the Crown.

So cast away your Burdens and be of Good Cheer,
Throw off your Worries and be without Fear;
We all have a job, given by the Lord of Hosts,
Unite the World and of Bahá'u'lláh, all Boast.
