MESSAGE FROM THE NATIONAL ARCHIVIST
We all love our beautiful photographs, our walk down memory lane, but the Archives are still getting photos with ink on the back. That means, sorry to say, that our great grandchildren won't see them. The acid in the ink will eat through and destroy them. The ink also can smudge or leave marks on other photos when they are stacked together. Please use a very soft lead pencil. Better yet, type or write (with a pencil) any information on a separate sheet of paper. Information needed: who took the picture, date taken, who is in the picture, why was the picture taken (summer school, teaching conference, etc.).
We want our photos to still be appreciated in 100 years and much longer.
