"Tribute To Dizzy" Concerts

Come spread the news of Bahá'u'lláh through the joyful jazz of Dizzy Gillespie! A Band of Bahá'í professional musicians, friends of the late John Birks Gillespie, will perform "Tribute To Dizzy" Concerts in selected cities of Ukraine and Moldova to strengthen the foundation of their future National Spiritual Assemblies.
Music has always been one of the most successful means of opening the hearts of men. Dizzy's jazz changed the history of music. It exemplifies unity; it transcends form; it creates original beauty in a spontaneous blending of musical talents. God willing, Dizzy's jazz will also help change the history of these former Soviet Republics.
You are invited to travel with the Band and help teach the Faith through firesides, public meetings, school and university visits, press conferences, children's classes and musical gatherings. Bahá'ís in the support team do not have to be musicians, just enamoured with the idea of speaking endlessly about Bahá'u'lláh to many thirsting souls.

In excerpts from her letter, trip co-leader Linda Brown relates her inspiration for this tour: Since 1989, I have been actively involved in planning and conducting Bahá'í teaching trips to the USSR, particularly the Ukraine. This latest trip, which will be my ninth, was inspired by a letter received from Counsellor Hartmut Grossmann of the International Teaching Centre. Let me share two paragraphs from that letter."There are many other reasons why we should persevere in going to the former communist countries, and in particular, to Russia; they were deprived and have the right to hear about God; they suffered and still are suffering and should find comfort in a new vision; they supported and protected the Faith at the time of Bahá'u'lláh and it is a debt of gratitude to be able to give them the Message. Each visit opens the eyes of true seekers to the light of guidance and we must go back to rekindle and nourish that light."The Universal House of Justice has mentioned that we have been given a double crusade -- we bring despondent souls hope, and we assist the country to reconstruct and rebuild while we learn and conceive what it means to apply the social teachings to a society in need. Hopefully, Ukraine and Moldova will soon be able to follow Belarus in establishing their own Naional Spiritual Assemblies. Much endeavor has to go into this process of maturation and making themselves independent.

"Friends, change is occurring very rapidly inside this huge part of the world, just now opening to the Faith of Bahá'u'lláh. The Faith advances at a miraculous rate there, but many destructive forces spread their spiritual pollution and cause God-given opportunities to disappear forever.
There were no administrative institutions at all in the beginning of 1990. By the end of the Three-Year Plan, it is possible that there will be a National Spiritual Assembly for every independent Republic of the former Soviet Union. Our project is geared toward achieving that for both the Ukraine and Moldova.
Thank you for any help you can render in spreading the news of this important teaching project.

With loving Bahá'í greetings,
Linda Brown
