As far as I know the only organizations we would be forbidden or
discouraged from joining would be those with an overt partisan political
slant or which actively encourage the breaking of laws or those whose
purpose goes against the teachings of the Baha'i Faith (for instance,
the pro-marijuana legalization group NORML - encourages the breaking of
the law and is for the use mind altering substances).
Amnesty International has been very useful in exposing the injustices
against Iranian Baha'is and bring their plight before the world. While
AI is 'political" (it supports freedom and the freedom of expression) it
is not partisan (its taken on just about everybody - sort of like the
ACLU). It supports an idea, not a person.
